Andre Matos is a Brazilian and world-acclaimed singer, musician and composer.

He's the founder and former vocalist of the heavy metal bands VIPER, ANGRA and SHAMAN, and since October 2006 has been dedicating his time to his solo career.

Produced by Roy Z and Sascha Paeth, Andre Matos' first solo album, TIME TO BE FREE, was released in August 2007. This 11-tracks album brought up Andre Matos' popularity as an artist: a well-conceived summary of landmarks with a look on the future. Ranked as 'Best album of the year' in Brazil, 2d place in charts in Japan and 4th place in Russian charts, released in more than 20 countries in Europe, the album was internationally praised by the press. Following this huge success, ANDRE MATOS BAND undertook an extensive tour, playing as headliners as well as in many top festivals appearances and special acoustic shows in Brazil, Europe and all over the world. Andre Matos' second solo album, MENTALIZE, was released on August 2009.

2012: THE TURN OF THE LIGHTS

After 25 years of worldwide success along with his former bands Viper, Angra, Shaman and currently Andre Matos Band, the Brazilian vocalist amazes one more time the international scene with the release of the excellent The Turn of the Lights, which has already been praised as the best album of his career.

The long-awaited new record from Andre Matos brings the vocalist and his band at its best, consciously exploring the combination of various musical styles. Besides the melodic and symphonic elements that have marked the vocalist’s career, listeners will certainly welcome all the new elements the musician is bringing into this record. The album is not kept under only one musical style, on the contrary, it is about freedom. Indeed, the track Liberty opens a series of 11 absolute killer songs, that feature all fine qualities: exciting riffs, catchy melodies, memorable choruses and intelligent lyrics, all built with great taste and performed to perfection.

The excellence acquired in the songwriting is a result of the long-time partnership alongside guitarist and songwriter Hugo Mariutti, who also signs the co-production of the record. The dream team of musicians is completed with the furious and technical solos of guitarist Andre ‘Zaza’ Hernandes, combined with the powerful rhythm section formed by Bruno Ladislau’s precise bass and Rodrigo Silveira’s creative drumming, who have contributed enormously in the final arrangements.

Andre Matos has been consistently showing throughout his career why he is considered the best Brazilian vocalist ever, as well as one of the best in the entire world. In great shape, the singer reassures his top-ranked position on the new record and explores some delightful lower vocal notes, without leaving behind his impressive high-pitch ranges, already a trademark.

The album was fully recorded, mixed and mastered at Norcal Studios, in São Paulo, Brazil, by producers Brendan Duffey and Adriano Daga. The record is released simultaneously worldwide on August 22nd in Brazil (through Azul Music) and Japan (through Marquee Avalon).

Other territories will follow shortly.

Proceeding his impeccable career built on dedicated work and faithfulness to his principles and ideas, Andre Matos writes, with the release of The Turn of the Lights, another important musical chapter in Metal History. And since we are talking about Andre Matos, we can rest assured that some of the songs on the record will certainly become

eternal classics.
